It's true what they say.....music really DOES soothe the savage beast

....or at least the savage beast I had become earlier tonight while working on this blog! But that's another post for another time. Music Monday has rolled around once more, and if you've never participated in "Monday's Music Moves Me", you really should head over to XMas Dolly's and do so. She has links to lots of good music and lots of great giveaways as well.

Let's get the rules out of the way first:

1. You Tube, and lock & load!
2. Grab "Monday's Music Moves Me" Button.
3. SIGN LINKY, Follow us, & Rockin' comment are good!
4. Finally,Boogie down to your Fellow Rockin' Bloggers. Also, bring some back with you to join us!

Okay. I doubt MY musical selections will soothe anyone, but this week is a freebie week and I am breaking with the "summer" theme to do showcase some pretty heavy music - in honor of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which I'll be driving to Atlanta for at the end of the week.

You've been warned! Here are just a few of the performers:

Upon A Burning Body - Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Whitechapel - I, Dementia

Asking Alexandria - To the Stage

The Devil Wears Prada - Vengeance

As I Lay Dying - Through Struggle

Anthrax - Caught in a Mosh

Mothorhead - Born to Raise Hell

Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss

Slipknot - Sulfur

And the conclusion of this show will scratch several more bands off my "Bands to See Bucket List." Yep.

  1. Oh boy, this brought back some Heavy Metal memories. My first bf was a metal head, his favourite bands being Slayer and MegaDeath. I got waking up by this music everyday for four years! WOW!

I also got caught in a mosh pit once...

    1. How funny! I stay away from mosh pits. I just wish I could avoid crowd surfers.

    2. I would be so freaked out to be caught in a mosh pit... UGH!

    3. Me, too. That's one thing I never experienced as a teenager going to shows, because I never went to punk and thrash shows (where I hear that was common, even in the 80s), and getting violent would get you thrown out of the venue at the hair band shows I attended. And as an adult, having to watch for crowd surfers or someone slamming into me really takes away from my enjoyment of the show.

  2. Great having you dance with us this week, Kim! What outrageous metal music! Metal isn't my forte, but that is what makes this meme so cool. I can dance with each person to their favorite picks while getting a crash introduction to some styles. Keep the groove a movin'! ^.^

    1. Definitely will be MAYHEM! I'm glad we're not in the pit now. Someone actually died in the pit at the San Bernardino show.

  5. Heavy Metal is not my favorite but I am glad you are getting to cross off a bunch bands off of your list. It sounds like you are going to have fun in Atlanta at the end of the week, enjoy :)

  8. Well, Kim you certainly put the ROCK in "This Belle Rocks"! LOL See, this is exactly why I love Music Monday. I love the freebie weeks and listening to non-themed choices to discover what moves everyone. I 'm impressed I knew the Slayer and Motorhead songs. :-)

Enjoy your concert! My Music Monday pick is up if you want to swing on by to hear it.

    1. Haha, thanks! There are some days that I feel completely mellow - those days just never fall on Music Mondays for some reason.

I will definitely come by to hear your music pick....do you do a linky, too? I am looking to expand my "Music Monday" blog networking, so the more, the merrier :)

I love the freebie weeks, too.....although I "themed" mine, it wasn't a strict theme....just a compilation of artists I'll be seeing this weekend.

I love this meme for bringing me new music, too....or re-introducing me to old favorites and such. It's a lot of fun to participate in!

  9. So sorry I've never been into heavy metal at all! To each his own I guess, but I must say I tried everyone, and it's really different stuff. Thanks for joining and don't forget to get at those give-aways our 100th wk is closing in on us! LOL Love what DMT said and I totally agree! Enjoy your upcoming concert! Let us know all about it.

    1. Absolutely! Y'all might not really be into a lot of the music I post, and that diversity is what makes the meme so great. I don't mind being the kick in the pants or the black sheep. Haha!

  10. Heavy metal is not normally my forte either, but I found myself actually kinda liking the Slayer one. That is what is so great about this meme, discovering music that you might not have given a chance.

glad for you getting to see some of your favourites!

    1. That Slayer tune is one of their more melodic ones; most of their stuff is straight-up thrash. Of course.

      Thanks for coming by!

  11. Wow... so much... angry screaming...

My husband's into metal. It's always kind of funny to walk into the house and hear him playing it and "singing" along.

    1. Hello! And thanks for stopping by :)

Funny thing about this style of music is....it's definitely aggressive, a lot of it is angry, and there is absolutely a lot of screaming, yet I don't see it as just angry screaming. It goes way beyond that for me.
