Yay, it's Monday!

Well, it is for all intents and purposes, anyway, so this is my Monday post. Weekends depress me unless I have fun plans, so I am really thankful that I usually work through them. And despite a productive day off today, I am glad to see Monday roll back around. Weekdays are my sense of normalcy and all, and these days, I need all the normalcy I can get.

Speaking of Mondays, have any of you been watching The Following? It premiered last Monday, and being a huge fan of Poe, I am LOVING it! Kevin Bacon ain't bad, either.

Monday also means Music Monday, so head over to Dolly's for the rules, or to participate or read more!

This week's theme is music inspired by the four elements. I'm in the mood for rain here lately, so mine are all rain-related.

Prince: Purple Rain

Guns 'N Roses: November Rain (w/Sir Elton John)

To be honest, those two make me sad - even though one is by GNR. So here's a few that DON'T make me sad....

Queensryche - Another Rainy Night

I always thought this was a visually stunning video, and I just LOVE Geoff Tate's voice.

Anyone remember this one?

Jackyl - Down on Me The word "rain" may not be in the title, but it's liberally repeated in the lyrics, so it totally counts!

I sure miss the days when the hot guys all had super-long hair.

Here's another favorite....

Hank Williams III - Thunderstorms and Neon Signs

And my final rain selection?

Slayer - Raining Blood

Oh, come on now. You all KNEW that was coming! (and how weird was it to see KFK with a head full of hair instead of a face full?)

Happy Monday!

  1. I did not know the last 4 but I like the different choices of "rain".

I just knew someone would post "Purple Rain". I had this very video on my page and took it off. :)

Great job with the theme this week.

    ROck on!

  3. The top two are familiar picks to me and I love the music of November Rain, but I get what you're saying how it kinda leaves you all somber. The last four songs I had not heard before today. So, thanks for the introduction, girlie. As you know I don't consider myself a metal gal. But, I did enjoy the sound of Queensryche and Jackyl at least in these two tunes you shared. Keep the rock n' roll a movin' in your soul this week, lady! It was great having you on the dance floor with us another week at Monday's Music Moves Me!

    1. Hahaha, Cathy, Metal moves me more than most other types of music, so that's usually what I go for. I'm glad to introduce you to some new (to you) tunes :)

      Thanks for stopping in!

  4. I hope your Monday brings you that piece of Normalcy you are craving, I know how that feels. I enjoyed your Rain post, I haven't listened to Purple Rain in ages, totally enjoyed it and all your songs fit nicely with my very rainy morning. Have a wonderful day :)

    1. Haha, we've been having quite a bit of rain here lately, so perhaps the choices were more inspired than I thought.

      Thank you for coming by!

  7. YES I've been watching The Following - I'm looking forward to tonight's episode! I even got the hubby to watch it on Hulu today so he can be up to speed - he ended up watching last week's episode twice to get some clarification (in his head) about what's going on. :)

What great choices you've shared - the first two I'm totally familiar with, the rest not so much...but I enjoyed listening and dancing to them! :) Have a great week Kim! :)

  10. Wow I have never heard Hank Williams the third before. He sounds so very much like his grandfather! If Old Hank ain't his grandfather then he sure is a good copycat of Hank's voice.

I am new this week and had no clue about a theme. I only have one video and I don't think it matched any of the elements.

    Happy MM :-)

    1. Jackie, I think it's totally okay to go with your own flow when the themes aren't happening!

Yes, Hank III is indeed the grandson of Hank Williams. Looks just like him AND sounds just like him - though his music definitely isn't his Granddaddy's.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  11. I think that was my favorite Queensryche song. And I had a crush on Jesse James Dupree most of my early 20s. LOL

    1. LOL, Jesse James Dupree still looks the same....do you watch Full Throttle Saloon? He's on that. He's bulkier (as in more muscular) now, but he has aged WELL.

That was a great Queensryche song! I'm not sure what my favorite is by them, but am glad to find more people that like Empire :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

    2. Oh yes! I've seen Jesse on that show and it has brought back lots of "feels". LOL

Empire was/is an awesome album. They just never got the credit they deserved, I didn't think. Silent Lucidity was a really good song, too. I really liked Geoff Tate.

Gosh, now I need to head over to iTunes!

    3. Definitely a really good album. I think their older fans just viewed it as a sellout because it did so well commercially. However....it was a departure from the sound they'd had up until that point, so I guess I can see it. I just really liked the sound of Empire despite becoming a fan during Rage for Order.

Haha, I love watching Jesse on that show. I just need to somehow get caught up on this season; I've only seen the first episode.

  12. thank you, thank you for including Purple Rain.
    great choices.

I've PVR'd The Following so I can watch it with hubby tonight -- he was on nights and wanted to see it too. So looking forward to it - love da Bacon! :)

    1. LOVE Purple Rain. LOVE Prince. I don't listen to it much, so it was nice to visit it today.

I think you will LOVE The Following! It's quickly becoming one of my favorites :) And I don't know many ladies who don't love da Bacon.

Thanks so much for coming by!

  13. I hate and loathe Monday's with a passion. But I do like the schedule and route of the work week. Oh, and The Following?! OH EM GEE!!! I have to watch that show with my hand over my face.

    1. It is pretty gruesome.....but even without the "gruesomeness" it's still a well-written and thought-out show.

If you work a regular work week, I can understand hating Mondays! Every day is a potential work day for me, though, so they're all the same other than the routine of the week.
