Coffee Chat - Confessional Edition

I missed last week's Coffee Chat, but am so happy to be back today! And what an exciting theme for the week: Random Confession. It's good for the soul!

This is so true. I used to be the one who couldn't wait to vent and share. But believe me, I've gotten a LOT better at not sharing over the years (a few different experiences where I thought I was welcome as a friend to vent or share ended up biting me you know where, so now I am VERY selective with whom I share and what I share when I do.), but if it's among genuine friends, sharing, confessing, is indeed good for the soul!

And on that note, here's where I step up with a random (or maybe not so random) confession: I am sooooo jealous of all of you who can actually commit to, plan, start, and finish a project. ANY project! I read through the lifestyle blogs and the home and style blogs and pore over the pics of awesome DIY stuff with envy because, that, too, could be me and my blog if only my Virgo characteristics would step up and demand it of me.

Maybe one of these days I will finish the rescues I brought home to do. But now the time is nigh for getting my house ready for sale, and that is definitely going to require some hired-out help, some DIY, and all sorts of other tasks for which I am ill-prepared. At the first of the year, it seemed like spring was a million days away and that I still had plenty of time. But time has a way of getting away from us when we're not watching, and that's exactly what has happened here. Between getting sick, work, and having to do things around several different schedules here at home, I now believe it will take me every bit of time from now until the time I list to see to everything.

Well, that's just one of my MANY issues at the moment. Of course, no one has time for the entire confessional, but this was the most important one to me because it's one that has bothered me for years - yet I never really pushed myself to do any better. I am just a classic self-sabotager and it drives me up the wall!

So what are you owning up to these days? What's your random confession? Let me know in the comments! And if you want to play along, be sure to follow the link above to Time Out For Mom and add yourself to the blog hop!

  1. I used to be the same way! I kept comments, thoughts, opinions....and "secrets" to myself to protects others. I've learned that you just can't keep things bottled and be sane! LOL Some don't appreciate it of course, but then again I'm not going to hide it if asked...I'm awesome at finishing creative projects, but not so good with household projects. I have a wall I repaired and still waiting for paint...from a year ago. Paint is still sitting there! LOL

    1. Oh, I wasn't keeping things to myself to protect other people, I just thought it was okay to bounce things about myself and my own situations to friends, but I guess they didn't want me to and never said so.

LOL. I am bad at both creative AND household projects.

  2. I have joined the chat this week. I indulge in procrastination much too often.

  3. I have the bad habit of being really busy and going on a Get All the Things Done binge.... and then being comatose on the couch watching TV series on Netflix for the next two weeks! LOL
I am currently in the midst of a small bathroom reno that is going on 2 weeks now. Some wall repair that was necessary caused a bit of a delay... but honestly, I could have started painting 3 days ago.... but, Sherlock on Netflix happened. LOL
I find Winter is the hardest time. Your body really does want to hibernate.

    1. Your reno has started, yay! I'm still trying to decide on a good palm sander to take care of some spots in my floor before I begin floor-covering the house in vinyl tile. Theoretically, I could go ahead and be painting as well, but....nah. Later. When we'll have less time to smudge the walls between time of painting and moving out.

Winter is definitely hard. And I really have been sick. I wasn't kidding when I kept blogging week after week about being under the weather. It's been crazy. I haven't been call-out-of-work sick in a while, but just enough that all I want to do when I get home is veg out.

  4. Hi Kim! Why do today what you can do tomorrow? My mantra tooo much of the time. But oh how great to tick off one or two things and see the light at the end of the tunnel, dim it may be. Hope you're much better now - I feel for you, I too have been ill and only today feel a little stronger and ready-ish to face tasks.

  5. I take, what I call spells of 'do-nothing,' It's like my mind sets a schedule for downtime in order to prep me for the coming busy time. I'm not sure if that makes sense to me, but for the last year it's been a kinder existence. I keep a close watch on 'to do or not to do' projects. Even a small step is appreciated. It might be a ten step project but I break it down into smaller parts when I have to...

Great rant. Oh my, I feel for you. Did the big move in 2011! I'm glad I survived. You will too, friend. (smile)

  6. I tend to do more project in the spring and summer because of weather. Otherwise, I just make a list of hopes and dreams and well, dream. HA. As for sharing - I have learned who is safe and who isn't and that sometime just sitting back and no talking at all, is just safer.

  7. Sorry I am late. My long haul trucker husband got home a couple of days ago, after a month away. I can really identify with this post. While I can say what I believe, stand up for justice, and things like that, I hold personal things in. I don't share much about myself, unless I am really close to someone. And that takes me awhile. Have a great week.
