#MusicMonday for 3.9.15

Ah....if only I had time to turn music on and the world off...

Let's just say in that case, I'd probably still have the world turned off. It's been kind of a stressful week. We had our ice storm Thursday, I had to be late to work because of it Friday, then worked a longer day than I had expected Saturday and it was SO BUSY! I am grateful, but tired. I was so stressed out I thrift shopped on the way home, and did not come out of the store empty-handed. I found the most perfect little beaded vintage evening bags from the 60s. So far, I haven't managed to get a good photo of them, but as soon as I do, it will be up here and on IG!

And to top it all off, I've been really stressing over not being able to find a good high speed internet option where I'll be moving. (I know, right? Who expects, in this day and age, to have no decent internet options? I mean, I will be moving to a very rural area, a cabin in the woods! - but I still expected 20 years after the internet came to small towns and hamlets everywhere in the world, that you could get high speed internet five miles from an interstate highway and a dozen miles from a major college campus. Guess I was wrong! But I am a master at working with what I have and making what I have work for me. Tim Gunn would be proud!

(This awesome t-shirt can be purchased right here.)

So today's theme over at Dolly's is "freebie." And I guess I shouldn't do another Marilyn Manson freebie so soon, so....

....in honor of our recent ice storm, here is a hilarious-but-accurate parody video by The Holderman Family called "We SUCK in Colder Weather". I posted this on my Facebook - twice, even! - but my readers either didn't see it or just didn't like it much. Maybe you guys will get a kick out of it!

Have a fantastic week, and head over to Dolly's to check out all the other Monday's Music Moves Me participants. And while you're there, why not participate yourself?

    1. LOL, thank you for the good week wishes, but I honestly hope to not have a snowtastic one again until next winter!

  2. We had ice last Thursday, as well. The weekend was really nice, though. It felt like spring. Yippee!! This week's forecast holds promise of continued warm weather, but lots of rain. :( Oh well...it's better than the cold, snowy/icy conditions we've had for the better part of the past 3-weeks, eh? Here's hoping this week is less stressful. Keep the tunes cracked up and have a dancetastic week!

    1. I think you and I are in the same general area of the country, because that was our weather pattern, too. And until today (Friday) it has actually been really nice.

    1. Patrick, we don't get it often! Just a few days during the winter, and sometimes not at all.

    1. It IS true. I don't mind good-natured making fun of it, but I hate when people get on news blogs and post about how terrible southern drivers are....HELLO, we only have wintry weather a few days a year! We don't get enough of it to be comfortable driving in it. Having said that, being careful and going sloooooooooowwwwww got me home safely both times I had to actually drive in it. Once was even in a Mustang. Besides, that, it's not my driving I worry about , it's everyone else out trying to get outta dodge at the same time, getting nervous and distracted. I daresay that's where most of the winter weather accidents come from.

  6. It's true. In Memphis we own few snow ploughs, and the city closes down whenever we get a dusting.

    1. I didn't know you were in Memphis, Joyce! Several friends live there, and I'll be about an hour south once I move. I visit home as often as I can, but I haven't been to Memphis in probably ten years.

Huntsville is the same way. We have no choice but to pretty much shut down and stay home simply because we do not have the equipment and supplies necessary to keep all of our city taken care of in wintry precipitation. And it's nowhere near cost-effective to purchase the equipment for the 3-5 days we usually get snow per year (if that).

  7. I really hope you find good internet connection where you rest your foundation.

    Thanks for rocking!

    1. Aw, thank you - me too! I'll be okay without it (I guess), but it's hard to go from having really good internet and cable to something way worse for the same price or more. Hopefully something better is available when I do have to m ake the move.

  9. oooohhh, cabin in the woods sounds perfect! you know, I think I might not even miss the internet.
well, after awhile when the shaking stopped. LOL

    1. Really. I was starting to shake and have withdrawals even though I'm still here in a place where I can have both cable AND real high speed internet for a lot less than they'll want for satellite and satellite internet. But a lot can happen in a year; maybe something better will be available by the time I move.

  10. AHAHAHAHAHA!! I have not heard that parody song before today, and I LOVE IT!!! I've always loved the Zac Brown Band original - but now this one is my favorite. ;) Here's hoping you find high speed internet for your new digs - I would go crazy without it. :)
