Signs, signs, everywhere a sign

Hello, first Coffee Chat of the new year! Today's chat theme is random, so I'm going to take this opportunity to grab my sleepytime tea (I know by the time you read this, it's going to be time for the strongest stuff imaginable, but trust me, I do best ending my night with a blog post a la Doogie Howser. Anybody remember him?) and talk about how excited I am that in less than twenty-four hours, I will be able to resume my weekly dates with Raylan Givens! Now, this is nothing new to anyone stopping by here who has been friends with me on Facebook for a while. But for those who don't? Let's just say that for some reason, I just can't resist posting "Time for my weekly date with Raylan Givens!" on my Facebook wall before every episode. I know that by now it's surely lost its humor, (Was it ever humorous?) but also by now it is a tradition with me, so I shall continue it. It would be bad luck not to, right?

Ahem.

Anyway, this post almost didn't happen because I'm freezing my ass off down here in Alabama, and all I want to do is crawl under my covers and put my cold toes under my warm dogs' furry bodies when they hop up to snuggle me. And yes, I said Alabama, as in the deep south where we don't usually have many nighttime lows that fall below freezing, but we're now halfway through a two-day stretch where our daytime highs have been in the teens with wind chills of 0 and below. If you're from the north, feel free to freeze-shame me if you must. I am way too cold to care! But the joke is on you, because in a few days I will be sitting in fifty-five sweltering (by comparison) degrees. So there.

But I digress. This post did happen because, as I said, I got a sign. That sign was me flipping through the channels and landing on Conan long enough for me to see him announce that Timothy Olyphant would be a guest on tonight's show. And since I love Raylan Givens, who is portrayed by Timothy Olyphant, I felt compelled to watch. And blog.

The musical guest on this same show is Panic! At The Disco. They're not a band I normally like, but I've been seeing them all over the place here lately, and after this Conan performance, I will have seen them twice tonight. It's a sign, right? It's almost like they're stalking me - like Josh Hartnett did about five years ago. For a while there, every time I turned my tv on Josh Hartnett showed up on it at some point. Whether it was the Emporio Armani commercial or one of his many movies, he was everywhere I turned. Now Panic! At The Disco is everywhere I turn, and their stalking me worked because their latest, "Miss Jackson," is really growing on me. And now? I am enthralled by lead signer Brendan Urie's facial expressions.

So...it's been fun chatting with you, and I leave you with today's music: Panic! At The Disco's "Miss Jackson" (and Brendan Urie's expressive visage.)

Let's chat. Who's stalking you? Which tv shows are you excited about for 2014? What music are you listening to this week?

  1. I feel your pain. I am so ready for the temperatures to turn warm again. It's bone chilling here in Knoxville this morning. Currently, our temps is 5°. Gee, do I have a stalker? Probably not. I'm just not that interesting of a person for someone to stalk me. lol If I do have a stalker then would I know about it? We don't watch broadcast TV, but we are watching Reign using the CW app, which we are enjoying. To be honest, I was surprise that I like it as much as I do. An older TV series we just started is Desperate Housewives and that's a lot of fun, too. As for music, I'm listening to whatever pops up on my radar. Keep warm!

    1. I planned on watching Reign, but never got around to it. Perhaps I will give it a try one of these days, once I get caught up on everything else I'm trying to watch.

  2. The return of "Mistresses". Lame, I know, but I love my drama. It's -8F here this morning :)

  3. Right now I'd like to see temps like you're having! Though still very cold, it would be better than being here. My phone says it's -7 right now but the wind chills are a lot lower.

    1. Oh, I know. I think EVERY place has been experiencing much colder than normal temps here lately. It's insane and COLD. Everywhere.

  4. We are even colder in Canada. I am a prisoner in my home because I don't want to bundle up in 27 layers to walk out to my car. Not much a tv watcher although the Food Network has some new shows including Chopped Canada.

    1. LOL, I don't wan to walk out to my car in the 20 degree weather....but have been going to work in it. I'm going to go ahead and put in my order for spring; perhaps it will be early this year.

  5. I don't know who Raylan Givens is but he sure looks sexy! lol I listened to Panic at the Disco a bit like ten years ago. I didn't realize they were still around. Sweet video!

    1. He's incredibly sexy!

I never listened to them at all because I hated their song "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" which my children were quite fond of. However, I do love their "weirdness" .

  6. You don't even want to know the temperature here. I won't freeze shame at all because I am bad Canadian myself to complain about how cold it is. And I have been sick constantly -- just constantly chilled. Say....can I borrow one of those furry dogs? ha

A few years ago Daniel Radcliffe was stalking me. really. It was the very height of Harry Potter and of course with 3 kids, you can imagine. He was Everywhere! I Googled Shakespearean sonnets for a poetry post -- there he was reading one. Looking for music for my music post -- there he is in a video. I even started dreaming about him. And all this would normally be okay with me.....but he was what, like 17? Bad me. LOL

I like this song! Thanks for chatting.

  7. I do love Panic! At the Disco…but I must say that when I bought the CD with "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" it would have been nice if Target had put a parental warning on it…I bought it for my (then) high schooler, but I was listening to it with my elementary schooler in the car and I almost wrecked!!! :/

I am here in Birmingham, and THANK GOD for Smart Wool socks, is all I can say….I can't get warm enough!!!!

  8. Oh…..let me answer your questions….I need to get caught-up on Dracula on NBC-TV.
I've been listening to Of Monsters and Men "Dirty Paws" a lot….and the New Orleans Saints are stalking me!

    1. I need to get caught up on Dracula, too. I think I only saw the first episode or two; I can't even remember now. But I work many Friday nights, so it gets put behind everything else I love at this point.
