How has everybody been? I'm still in the holding pattern with the weight loss. Holding at a loss of eight pounds so far (the ten I lost, plus the three I put back on, minus another that I lost just in time for last weigh-in), and I had better see improvement this week. And that's all I've got to say about that! I've also potentially made my first Etsy sale, and I don't even have my Shoppe up and running yet! Isn't that great? It's NOT set in stone, but someone did inquire about the adorable flamingo barware set I showed off during last Thursday's Thrift Score Thursday post, and I gave them price and they want the items at that price! They can't get it just yet, but that's okay....I have a tentative launch date of May 15 for the Etsy Shoppe, and will be listing it there if the first potential buyer is unable to take it off my hands. Now, if only the rest of my vintage stuff could sell that quickly, I'd be doing great!
Today's "Monday's Music Moves Me" theme is "Music that picks you up when you're feeling down".
I admit, I have no rhyme or reason to anything I choose. The songs that make me happy aren't always "happy" songs, lyrically. And they change so much from time to time.
Making me happy here lately? Try not to laugh. Or judge. Oh, okay. Judge away!
Dwight Yoakam - "Guitars, Cadillacs"
Sometimes I really love my hillbilly music!
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - "Here Comes My Girl"
The Cars - "Let's Go"
Billy Squier - "In the Dark"
Muse - "Madness"
(Yes, this is a repeat appearance by both the band AND this song, but - well, it makes me happy!)
There you have it - a small portion of the music that makes me happy. To see what others are sharing, head to Dolly's to check the other participants out, or to participate yourself. What music makes YOU happy?
RING IN A BELLE! ~
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! (Especially, for me, the first two.)
I thought Dwight's first two albums were... FANTASTIC! (Played the carp outta both of 'em!) And that "look"... "wardrobe"... "style" he displayed on the cover of the second album... well, I'm pretty much an original and don't really copy others much, but I gotta admit, if I thought I could have pulled it off, I would have copied Dwight's style on the cover of that second album.
Oh, I still have a Stetson, and I still wear jeans (sometimes pretty "holy pants"), and back in the early '80s I think I may have even "pioneered" the tuxedo-shirt look (along with a black leather jacket), but... that blue "Roy Rogers" jacket Dwight is wearing on the cover of 'Hillbilly Deluxe', I only wish I could have gotten away with that! [I'll pass on those jeans though. If you ain't on a stage, those jeans would likely get a heterosexual guy into some "bar trouble".]
And Tom Petty... ANYTHING from 'Damn The Torpedoes', really. I go all the way back to the beginning with Petty. (Favorite album though? 'HARD PROMISES'.)
I lost interest in The Cars after their first album, but I sure dug that debut. I'll still crank 'JUST WHAT I NEEDED' up to eleven. Also really like 'My Best Friend's Girl' (which I think borrowed a bit from the song 'Mercury Blues') and 'Good Times Roll' ("...let them knock you around"... and, boy, did I EVER!... once upon a time).
I even owned that Billy Squier LP back "in the day".
Nice stroll down 'Amnesia Lane' for me. ("That's right!")

Really, Stephen?! Amnesia Lane! You're just too funny with that one. I think I live on that street!
DeleteConfession: I stole it from Robin Williams in 'DEAD POETS SOCIETY'.

Hi, Kim! This batch of tuneage made me happy, too. I well remember the splash that crossover country artist Dwight Yoakam made with his chart topping albums Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., Hillbilly Deluxe and Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room. I also love his cover of the Elvis Presley hit "Little Sister." I worked as head of production at a television station patterned after MTV and we played videos by Ric Ocasek and The Cars in heavy rotation. Me likey Billy Squier and have his music in the pipeline on my own blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, dear Kim!
Madness is great. Those are all great choices and songs. Thank you very much for the selections.
ReplyDeleteGood selection especially The Cars :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a tunetastic week :-)
Some new ones, and some old ones all tunes to pick me up... although not sure about the last one.. it was a bit depressing... well the video.. but cool tune. I'll have to listen to that one again. Thanks for joining on girlfriend. You so ROCK!
ReplyDeleteI love that not only have you already got a pre-sale for your future Etsy Shop, but that you have an eclectic taste in music like I do. :) Love all your choices, Kim! Thanks for the dance! :)
ReplyDeleteSun Daze when i’m Day Drinking gotta Shake It Off because I’m To Blame but It Feels Good!
Good luck with Etsy!
ReplyDeleteDwight Yoakam - I enjoy his music; love Bakersfield!
There's something about a man in a white shirt and jeans - RUN!
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - great song choice. Reminds me of the last drive-in(Ha!)
The Cars - I used to watch my parents dance.
I played this song one day, and my Mom and I jitterbugged to it!
Billy Squier and Muse - were not in my world, though they lived within some of my friends' minds.
Great mix of happy, Kim. (smile)
Oh girl. Glad you already have a potential sale.
ReplyDeleteAnd music is for our own taste...others either like it or don't :)
Thanks for rocking and good luck dancing off that weight!
Way to go on the Etsy sale and also the nice happy tunes for you! Almost all of them are new to me.
ReplyDeleteKim....great song picks! I, especially enjoyed The Cars Let's Go! I totally forgot about this one from '79. That was the year DH & I got married. Geez, that's been a looong time ago. Of course, that tune holds a bit of special magic somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind. :D
