30 days till Halloween!

It is October first, which means there are only 30 more days till Halloween! I thought I'd officially kick off my favorite month with a countdown to my favorite holiday in the form of a different horror or Halloween-themed movie that I've seen over the years each day. I also have a Halloween (the holiday, not the movie) -themed giveaway coming up later in the month, so be sure to stay tuned for that!

I'll start my suggestions off with a woefully-overlooked little film from the 80s, Trick or Treat. I couldn't wait to see this movie when it came out! But as I said, it was overlooked. So overlooked, in fact, that it never even came to a theater near me and I had to wait for it to be released on VHS before I could watch it.

It featured Gene Simmons as a radio DJ, Ozzy Osbourne as a preacher, and Mark Price (a.k.a. Skippy from "Family Ties" for those of you who were around back then) as a geeky, brooding high school outcast who manages to manifest the black soul of his favorite devil-worshippin' rock star, who had recently died under mysterious circumstances.

Of course, all manner of mayhem ensues, but what more do you need, really? You've got Skippy, Ozzy, Gene, and a killer soundtrack by metal band Fastway! And Fastway was fronted at that time by none other than Dave King, whom some of you may more readily recognize from his current folk-punk band Flogging Molly.
