Howdy.

I took another unintentional hiatus for a week or two there. Maybe more. Who's keeping track, though? I am just glad to pop in for another post. I didn't mean to abandon the blog or any readers OR neglect my own reading, but so much has been going on here lately, as I prepare to close one chapter of my life and begin a new one.

So what all has been happening since I last posted? Well....lots of thrifting. I have so many pretties and goodies to take and post pics of, and I've not gotten around to it yet. Thrifting has been my saving grace for many years now - just like retail therapy, only cheaper and with way cooler stuff (in my opinion). Keeping up with family and friends. Lots and lots going on with them, too. This has been an amazing year thus far in that almost everyone I know has faced some pretty difficult times, and I see them all rising to the challenges and overcoming the obstacles. I need to get back to that myself, and have been shown a multitude of inspirations.

Of course, it all comes back to the music - those combinations of words and sounds that inspire, encourage, and keep us going. Or just offer us an escape. I'll be sharing a few of those this week for 4Ms/Music Monday:

This one's been on my mind so much. I'm normally not a lyrics person, but this one just just about fits me to a tee right now.

Fighter - Christina Aguilera

I've been hearing this one a LOT lately, and couldn't believe it was Shinedown. It's so romantic - probably the ONE type of song I don't need to be listening to at this point in my life, but what the heck. It's one of my current favorites and so pretty.

I'll Follow You - Shinedown

And now, to lighten the mood, this is the most hilarious spoof video I've seen in quite some time - my friend Spank had it posted on her Facebook wall and I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to share it. Now is the time! If you've never seen it, you are in for a real treat. I now give you....

Look at this Instagram - CollegeHumor

Okay. What a bummer. They disabled embedding, but if you've got a few minutes, you NEED to check it out; it's hilarious! Because we all know instagrammers who do all that stuff. And that guy makes me giggle uncontrollably!

Happy week! I am so glad to have tomorrow off. There is lots and lots of stuff to do, but I can still stay up late and get caught up on my latest guilty pleasure, Hart of Dixie. Yup.

  5. Had a hard time finding where to put a comment, but I clicked on the date of another comment, and your add comment finally showed up. Weird. Okay love love love LMAO your college humor. I even had to send that to my hubby - that's his kind of humor for sure. LOL Loved your Christina A.'s video too. I don't thing I ever saw that video before, but I've heard the song. 1. I'm sorry you had trouble, Marie! I have that at some sites I visit. Mine always shows up for me at the very bottom - at least the box shows up...I need to figure out a way to maybe make it more visible.

I am glad you got to enjoy some of my selections! Thanks for stopping by, and sticking around to leave a comment :) You have a great week, too!

  6. Great picks! I love that Figther song too! That Instagram video is hilarious! That is EXACTLY how I feel about Instagram. I just don't get it. I only use it because brands what to see my presence on Instagram, but honestly Instagram annoys me. I use it begrudgingly.

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by, Denise! I do love instagram and am guilty of a few of those offenses myself. But I can still laugh at the video, and myself, because it's so true! As for getting it, I just mainly love the social aspect of it. I haven't friended many people on there yet, but I love seeing what they post in an easy-to-access feed.

  7. Ok, I went, I saw, I laughed!!!
I know someone who everyday is posting at least 9 photos of her kid.
The baby is cute but OMG stop already...the kid is not even 1.

Anyway, great choices and I hope things are looking up for you.

    1. Thank you, Naila! I figured mostly everyone would get a kick out of it if they made it over to watch. I love how the cliches were soooo accurate. Right down to "pretentious tome." Haha!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Christina Aguilera has such a powerful voice. I remember when she was first introduced as young upcoming musical talent, as a small girl and I thought, "WOW!"

Now "I'll Follow You" is new-to-me, but I like it. Really nice!

As for that crazy parody you sent us to check out. Isn't that funny? And, I can so see myself in this because every time something catches my eye, I'll pull out my iPhone to snap a pic. I don't do instagram, but I may use the pix in a WW post. lol

Thanks for joining us on Monday's Music Moves Me!

    1. She does....always has. Her music isn't for me, but I have to admit, she writes some songs with powerful lyrics, and props to her for singing live in concert instead of lip-syncing & dancing like so many pop stars do or did. Shinedown did good with this one, I think.

I always snap stuff to instagram, too....doesn't matter what it is :) But I don't constantly update so I figured I could laugh! I know you said you don't instagram (how are you holding out?), but I do. So I'm basically laughing at myself.

    1. Thanks for coming by, Rebeka! You know, I never really considered myself that much of a Shinedown fan - even skipped out on seeing them live every time they've been in town (*my* town, where I wouldn't have even had to travel to see them) - but I think I'll start going now if I can. Their music is pretty good!

I'm headed over to read your post about the 90s....one of my two favorite decades of my life :)

  10. Glad you are doing okay and I need to get into thrifting.

Music does help us overcome some things right or just keeps us going.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
