One solitary act or goal, that is.
In my last post, I briefly touched on some intentions for this year and promised to come back and expand upon them later. Well, today's Coffee Chat topic is "One thing I would like to accomplish in 2015 is ___________." Oh boy. Only one thing? But I have so many things I want to accomplish this year! And if I'm being completely honest, I just hope to accomplish good health. ALL kinds - physical, mental, emotional and even financial. I feel like the basis of improving any kind of health is to start by improving physical health specifically.
Why do I feel that way? Well.....I have a major health issue, asthma, that affects my ability to do many things. I am able to keep it under control most of the time with a COPD (yes, even though I do not actually have COPD - yet) medication which is very, very expensive. Therefore, I don't keep to that regimen the way I truly should. I just have to do what I can when I can. But one thing I did notice a few years ago, when I got about thirty pounds off, was that my breathing improved. My heart wasn't fighting as much weight to get oxygen to the other parts of my body. If I can breathe, I don't have to call out of work as often due to breathing issues. If I can breathe, I can exercise and continue to strengthen my heart.
That small improvement in physical health also bolstered my confidence (mental health), which made a huge improvement in how I interacted with others. Improved confidence can help you in so many areas of your life, such as landing a promotion or better job. It can help give you confidence in just about any other area of life as well. The endorphins released by exercise trigger a positive feeling in the body, and exercise also helped (my) depression (emothional health). The weight loss/improved physical health also meant that I ate less, and (a little bit; this IS me we're talking about here) better, so the grocery bill was a bit less. Which was a small step toward better financial health.
I could go on and on and on, but you get the picture. Good health - doesn't even have to be the best health, although that is certainly a worthy goal as well - affords so many opportunities for an improved overall quality of life. Therefore, I hope to accomplish good physical health in 2015. And to that end? Right now I'm starting off with the free YouTube workouts from POPSUGAR Fitness. If you're looking for new workouts to try, check their YouTube channel out. They have lots of five, ten and thirty minute workouts to customize and combine.
What is one thing YOU hope to accomplish in 2015?
