Despite Guns N Roses having a much more well-known cover of "Sympathy" and an unknown but very worthy cover by alt/indie bands Band of Skulls and John and Jehn that you should listen to if you get the chance, I decided to pair another virtually unknown version by Horacio Hernandez to a cover by Jane's Addiction.

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions
Yes, the road to hell may indeed be paved with good intentions - yet here I am with mine for both myself and the blog this year.
This is the post I meant to write for publication last Thursday, but that was when all the electrical outlets in my living room stopped working, causing me to vacillate between bouts of the following: uncontrollable sobbing. Wanting to take the extension cord I'd been using to power a heater in my bedroom (because during the summer, all but one wall of outlets stopped working in there) and severely beat floors, walls and windows with it - but I couldn't because I knew repairing and replacing them would be too expensive! And lastly, once tired and spent from all the distress, having zero fucks left to give it, only to re-energize myself enough during those calm periods to get worked up all over again. But back to my good intentions for the year...

Happy New Year! Let's start 2015 with a little sympathy.
Now that 2014 is behind me, I'm ready to get started on new ideas, new projects (um....and continue finishing old ones), and new goals. At one point last year I was considering whether to start over, or just drive the brand I've already put a lot of time and effort into. Obviously I Have chosen to continue with the This Belle Rocks brand this year, and try to steer that in a few different directions, all of which I am equally passionate about. Another goal for the blog? To try to post something, no matter how big, small, or frivolous, as long as it is relevant to my interests, every day. And hopefully, that will eventually attract others with similar interests. But I will never connect with others if I don't put something out there to begin with, right?
And on that note, here I am posting on a day where I normally scratch my head and wonder what I could possibly post about. But not just any post - this is my first Battle of the Bands of 2015, and I am SO excited!

I'm really ready for that vacation now...
Mentally, at least. I've been ready. More than ready. However, being on my own for the first time in over a dozen years means that in reality, I need to work more. And I will, as soon as I can get a second and/or third job. Not to mention, I am hardcore cleaning and doing what I can to renovate my home. I need to make it start feeling like mine. Oh, and I'm launching a new website this week. One that indulges my love of purple, and I can't wait for everyone to see it! So stay tuned for that.
But for now? I'm just getting lost in a song inspired by this week's "Monday's Music Moves Me" theme at X-Mas Dolly's, which is "splish-splash" and all about summertime, water, water sports, bodies of water, etc.

Here is Jane's Addiction's "Up the Beach." One of the most beautiful and relaxing songs I've ever heard. It is said that salt water cures all, either through sweat, tears or the ocean. And while life and responsibility are definitely calling on me now, I long to escape to the beach and let the salt water and ocean air recharge my nearly drained batteries!
