Road Trip Random #MusicMonday + BotB Winner for 3.21.15

As is my usual custom here of late, I am off to a bit of a late start on Music Monday, and certainly off to a late start on announcing a winner for the Battle of the Bands for 3.15.15. But I just got back from a quick trip back home to visit the folks and hopefully start getting a feel for my future home (more on that another time), and prior to that worked seven days in a row, the last two of which were doubles. I am beginning to think my schedule may always be something like this, but I'm not going to complain. I need every cent I can earn from my job! So first up will be the BotB winner...

I don't think I'd have nearly as much trouble making blog posts if only I could think of clever titles

But that is neither here nor there. It's #MusicMonday, and in honor of Jared Leto winning his first (and much-deserved) Oscar tonight (in addition to being named Prettiest by host Ellen Degeneres!), here is his band Thirty Seconds To Mars with a track off LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS that I don't think I've shared with you all yet, "Do or Die".

And in other news, we've had spring for two days this week. This pic was taken earlier today while we were under a winter weather advisory:

Sooooo.....we're going to have a 50-or-so-degree drop in temps in 24 hours. I don't know what that means for us, but probably just bitter cold misery for a day or two then annoying cold that lingers. But I hope not for too long! I was actually motivated to do stuff, and I'd like to - well, do my stuff. But when it's cold, the best I can manage is reading the blogs of people who HAVE done stuff and look at all their pictures while thinking "I could do this" amd wishing it had been me who had a nifty project to show off.

Soon!

But I digress. Happy #MusicMonday! Happy return-of-Hart of Dixie day! Happy, happy season-premiere-of-Bates Motel day!

The music that moves me today

Over the weekend, I got a most important and exciting text from Spank telling me that Thirty Seconds To Mars will be in Atlanta on September 27, with tickets going on sale THIS WEEK!!!! As you can tell, I am pretty ecstatic about this. This concert announcement is just one of the many amazing things to come from July 2013. And the concert itself is eleven days after my birthday, so I am excited to be able to celebrate it with some Atlanta area friends and this band.

Obviously, Thirty Seconds To Mars is moving me this week.

Here's another one from their latest, LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS, "City of Angels." It's beautiful.

What music has you moving this week?

It's been a while.....

But I'm here now, with some incredible new music to which you should direct your attention posthaste!

I've blogged at The Music Mamas before about what a great experience I had at one of Thirty Seconds To Mars' Atlanta shows a little over two years ago. That's been my only show to date, but this year changes all that, because they are back with new music (Love Lust Faith + Dreams is set to release tomorrow, May 21 - go pick it up if you haven't already pre-ordered it!) and a new tour! And if my schedule and finances allow, I will be seeing them wherever I can on this tour; that's how blown away I am by their live performance.

Oh, and the music's not bad, either! If you're not already familiar with their music, the best way I can describe their overall sound is prog/alternative. They definitely have a sound all their own, but for reference think Pink Floyd, Tool (via the band's Wikipedia page), with characteristics of just about everything else worked in (I even hear a bit of older U2 in some of it). With each record they've released, they've added other elements to their sound, and with this one it looks like they could be utilizing a bit more of an electronic vibe than in past records. Thus far I've heard two songs and previewed all of them, and am REALLY excited to hear the rest of it in its entirety tomorrow.

Here is the first video, "Up In The Air." Even if the music's not your thing, you should still watch because it's eye candy as well
